Markets itself as a quiet campsite, which I guess it would be, if not for the visitors, who feel the need to fill the silence, and the children using the entire campsite as a playground, while shouting nonstop, sometimes until way after 23 at night.
Okay older facilities, clean and maintained and the pitches are a very good size.
The tent only area is very close to the goats and the cafe area, which seemed quite busy and noisy. I chose a proper pitch instead for that reason.
The cafe is open for self service all day and evening for coffee, snacks and a decent selection of quality ice cream. Bread service Tuesdays and Fridays, which you order the evening before.
There is no hot water in the kitchens and the kettles are old, slow to boil and full of lime scale. There are fridges and a freezer available, though not a lot of room in them, which makes them harder to keep clean. But they do get cleaned.
There are not many table/bench sets around the site and they seem to be taken by, or perhaps meant for, the huts, so having your own seating and tables is helpful.
The showers are warm enough with good space, but the pressure would frustrate people with long, thick hair. There are sink stalls with privacy curtains and hot water as well. By the beach there is also an outdoor shower, but I have not used it, so unsure if this has hot water too.
I liked it here, but not sure I would visit again, as quite a few of the visitors have a very "hands off" approach to parenting.
The staff are very laid back and happy to answer questions, but they are not generally around except when coming around the site between 18-19 in the evening. Sometimes they are on the information hut in the mornings between 8-9 as well. They are always available by phone, but I just have a different preference in that regard.
